Hard at work – and not all of it is this pretty… But things are getting done “behind-the-scenes” at the Blast.
Quick Fall Review:
In SEPTEMBER, we announced on our subscriber newsletter that our publishing schedule was shifting to weekends-only through January 2016.
That has worked wonderfully, as our popular weekend edition is more focused on news from the community through our unique hashtag, #YoungeHwoodBlst.
Everyone who tweets relevant news with that hashtag appears in our weekend edition – for free. It also allows us to support our “news-makers” with retweets. It’s super exciting to watch the community taking charge, both on Twitter and on Facebook.
Speaking of taking charge, we’re reaching out for your opinion through our brand new Facebook group. It is being developed with community feedback to help us communicate better amongst ourselves. This is extremely important, as the spirit of this publication began on social media. Community input is everything. Especially, as we will be crowdfunding in the future to continue the growth of the publication.
Then, OCTOBER marked our 4th anniversary as a digital news publication – and we’re making plans for our fifth. It’s time to “level up” and meet up! Have a suggestion about how we can connect the community in the real world? Please comment here, and get involved.
Ahead in November:
We’ve been full steam ahead with #CrowdfundMonday: our weekly chat to support your indie crowdfunding efforts.
Although there have been a few stumbles in the new blab live-stream, we’ve still enjoyed lively conversations with the global film-making and entertainment community. We’ve also been learning about crowdfunding trends for the indie world.
Speaking of which, in November, we’re thrilled to invite two returning guest experts, who have both raised a total of over $1.7 million dollars combined for successful crowdfunding projects in the indie entertainment world.
First up on Monday, November 2nd, is Michael C Dougherty. Michael delivered such a wealth of information to our community that his first special one-hour interview nearly turned into two! And our community has been a-buzz with excitement for his return:

So make sure to ask Michael your questions in advance on our Google Doc ( click on “Comments” ) here. You’ll get them answered LIVE – we can’t wait!
Then November 23rd, for our season finale, we‘ll welcome back indie crowdfunding expert, Leah Cevoli. She generously shared information with us back in June. From the overwhelming response she received, we are sure that this upcoming episode is a must-watch. You’ll be able to ask her questions in advance shortly as well. Look out for more details on that next month.
In the meantime, join our Tweet Chat page to follow the audience interaction and see host questions: http://twubs.com/crowdfundmonday. Fingers crossed, the our new blab will be embedded on that page, so you won’t need multiple screens to follow the conversation. Just in case, subscribe to our blab videos as well. That way you can be notified when we go live: https://blab.im/youngehollywoodblast.
Just beyond that, starting December 1st, we’ll be on official holiday hiatus from publishing, and chatting. The website is still under way, however, so make sure to subscribe to our member newsletter for exclusive updates, limited specials, and more.
