It has been non-stop since 2015 began.
So it’s time for a break, – a progress update, plus the low-down on Summer Break here at the Blast.
Yes, we’re on break this August. Oodles of work, however, will continue behind the scenes.
We’re launching the new publication website this Fall!
Now for the exciting progress update…
What’s been happening this year?
In addition to running the Blast, I freelance in social media PR.
Excitingly, this Spring, I had a chance to work with LA educational start-up, CreatorUp. They help new creatives tell their digital story and get creative gigs. Some of you were even part of their first round of Live Classes this year! The Blast looks forward to connecting you with more opportunities like this.
Next, we opened submissions to the publication this June. Now you can take charge, and make quality media coverage for yourself! It is so exciting, because the Blast is not the “news” or a regular PR website. It is “crowd-sourced” media, which means the audience decides how they want to participate: for Free, or Featured.
There are two free ways to become a “news-maker”:
- via Twitter, or
- our Facebook group.
Have questions? Send a direct message any time.
Ready to shine a spotlight on your work? Submit to our brand new Featured Article service. When accepted, your article not only gets published in our award-nominated publication, but also receives powerful social media PR throughout our entire network. This option creates huge value for readers and news-makers alike. Our goal is to help emerging creators like you share your high-quality news with the world easily.
So, in the spirit of celebration, there is a Special Offer this month to put your Featured Articles in the headlines – for free! Check our member newsletter for details.
How will the Blast operate during Summer Break?
Our publication on Paper.li will be on “auto-pilot” – sort of. I curate every edition of the publication by hand. During August, however, your submissions take over. Everything you submit for free gets pulled in for weekday afternoon publication. So put the Blast to work for you.
Worried about automation affecting the quality of this publication? There are strong robots in place to weed out spam, etc. Reporting features are also active everywhere – so please use them to keep the Blast looking tip-top!
Lastly, there will be no Interview Segment during our weekly crowdfunding Tweet Chat this August. But the community Retweet Exchange is happening as scheduled. The Retweet Exchange is where we retweet crowdfunding campaigns for emerging Hollywood as a community. Remind yourself now to attend every week with Google Calendar (see panel to the right)!
Have a crowdfunding campaign to publicize this Fall? We are booking interviews for September and October, so be sure to request your interview spot now – they are filling quickly.

Until next time! – Natasha
